Thom Sweeney in Mayfair

The Pollen Estate are delighted to announce Thom Sweeney’s imminent arrival of its new tailoring townhouse, situated at 24c Old Burlington Street, in the heart of London’s Mayfair. The four storey townhouse is scheduled to open in September 2020, and will bring Thom Sweeney’s two existing West End stores under one roof. With a bespoke tailoring workshop, fitting rooms, made-to-measure lounge and ready-to-wear collection on show, plus a cocktail bar and barber’s shop, the 3,100 sq ft store promises to bring an elevated new retail experience to the capital’s West End.

Customers will enter through the townhouse’s grand frontage into a showroom dedicated to Thom Sweeney’s ready-to-wear collection; with tailoring, casualwear, shirts and knitwear on display. A custom-built pool table and a drink’s bar will enable this floor to transform easily into an event space when required. A shared courtyard with Buck’s Club, the iconic Mayfair member’s club, will also be accessible from the ground floor.

The first floor will showcase more of the ready-to-wear collection, and offer a consultation space for Bespoke and Made-To-Measure customers, with elegant mid-century furnishings, custom Thom Sweeney mannequins and galvanised clothing rails lining the space.

Julian Stocks, Property Director of The Pollen Estate commented “We are delighted to welcome Thom Sweeney to Old Burlington Street, and are excited to see their luxury retail offering under one roof”

“The townhouse marks the start of an exciting chapter for Thom Sweeney”

At the top of the townhouse’s staircase, lined with artworks curated by neighbouring Mayfair galleries, the third floor will be a lounge area for customers to socialise and feel at ease. A second copper-clad cocktail bar and leather Chesterfield sofas will lend the space a sophisticated, masculine look and member’s-club feel.

“The townhouse marks the start of an exciting chapter for Thom Sweeney,” says co-founder, Thom Whiddett. “We’re excited to be moving onto Old Burlington Street, bringing fresh energy to neighbouring Savile Row – an address that’s synonymous with Great British tailoring. We’re also looking forward to presenting a modern vision for a tailor’s shop, with space to unwind as well as to meet our team and browse the collection. This new store is as much a home from home for our customers, as it is a hub for bespoke tailoring.”

Beneath the top three storeys, the townhouse’s lower ground floor will host Thom Sweeney’s bespoke workrooms; home to the company’s team of cutters and coatmakers. Four sizeable cutting boards will sit at the centre of the room, with sewing machines, steam irons and additional workbenches lining the space. To the rear, sliding glass doors will lead through to a pair of mahogany lined fitting rooms. The floor is designed to feel seamlessly connected; clients will be able to watch their suits take shape in the workshop, and tailors will be able to jump between their workstations and fitting rooms with ease.

Finally, a vaulted rear chamber will be converted into Pankhurst London’s new state-of-the-art barbershop, with two trademark custom-made Bentley barber’s chairs for customers to relax in. The full suite of Pankhurst’s luxury grooming services will be available, from haircuts to traditional wet-shaves, adding to the prestige of this new, luxurious retail destination.
